Get Your Students Up to Speed in Time for Fall Courses
Fall is a deadline: when classes resume, your student needs to be at a certain Latin level for their new school, or to continue with their peer group. Or maybe you're homeschooling, and feel that you are starting Latin late, and need to do some catch-up. Whatever the case, your student needs to learn or review an awful lot of Latin in a very short time.
This is where the Latin On-Ramp comes in. This course is designed to launch students quickly into their study of Latin without sacrificing rigor. Over the course of 4 weeks, students will gain working facility with all 5 Latin declensions and the entire verbal system, as well as the most common uses of the cases and the most frequently used subordinate clauses. In most programs, this comprises the first two years or more of Latin study.
As a result, this class is a great way for a student to get caught up to a program at school, or to jump ahead in the Latin curriculum, or just to begin their Latin study at a faster pace than traditional instruction allows. And for experienced students still struggling with the fundamentals, this course can right the ship and give them a firm foundation.
But is it really possible to learn so much in such a short time and retain it? It absolutely is, for at each step memorization is based in the principles of word formation (which give the student the ability to generate forms they cannot otherwise remember) and reinforced by seeing the forms and grammar deployed in the context of real, idiomatic Latin sentences. Only take note: what is learned quickly is lost quickly if it is not practiced: this course should only be taken by students who will continue their Latin studies in the Fall, or what they learn will not take root in their long term memory.
Fun and effective, Latin on-Ramp is a powerful tool for kicking off or strengthen a student’s Latin study.
We will work with you and your child's school if necessary to make sure this course can be accepted for appropriate credit or certification. Just let us know how we can help!

My daughter, who had no Latin background, needed to take a Latin course in order to be ready for the classical charter school she was attending in the fall. We chose Latin On-Ramp with Junius Johnson and it exceeded our expectations. The course was engaging, thorough, and meticulous in excellence. Some of my daughter's peers have commented that she has learned more in this On-Ramp course than they did in a year. I could not recommend this course enough if you need a Latin refresher or if you need to be ready to go for an upcoming school year or class. Thank you Mr. Johnson for a summer class that was dedicated to Adley's success, delightful, and full of wonder!

Junius Johnson loves Latin and has an engaging way of presenting it to his students.

Simply put, Junius Johnson is the best Latin teacher I have ever experienced in my many years of supervising education. He is a true scholar of the Latin language from the classical period to the neo-Latin present; he has success teaching every age and skill level. Junius is compassionate with those who are less gifted than he, but still manages to stretch his students in a friendly and inviting manner. I wholeheartedly recommend him to you as your teacher. Trust me, the encounter will be memorable.

With humor, intelligent discussion, and deep insights, Junius Johnson gives you more than an overview or introduction to Latin, he inspires you to keep learning hard things while giving you a vision and much fuller picture of Latin.

Junius has such a robust understanding of the language, and his passion is contagious. His approach invites parents, educators, and students to re-imagine how they think about Latin, moving from merely transactional to experiential. He’s also not afraid to address many of the “why” questions that all too often go unanswered. Highly recommend!

Mr. Junius is a treasure trove of Latin knowledge. He loves the subject and knows it intimately. He oozes that love and his students will pick it up.
